Independent councilors have been elected without contest in 10 of the total 15 wards in Kamuti municipality. The BJP has been elected unopposed in the 14th ward.

Ramanathapuram district has 15 wards for Kamuti municipality. 46 people had petitioned to contest for 15 wards. But today the petitions have been withdrawn and elections are to be held for only 4 wards. Of these, members of wards 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11,12, 13, 14, 15 (11) were elected without contest.

DMK is not contesting for Kamuti municipality. AIADMK is contesting in only one ward. Despite the BJP contesting in 4 wards, Satya has been elected unopposed as the BJP’s candidate in the 14th ward. Dummy candidate Shanti withdrew her candidature. Abdul Waqf Sakarani (Male), who won the 7th Ward without contest, is likely to be elected as the Chairman and Anthony Xavier Adima, who won the 10th Ward without contest, as the Vice President.
