A joint excursion to the historical area of Souli is organized by the Mountaineering Associations of Ioannina and Igoumenitsa on Sunday, March 10.
There will be two marches. The first route is a tour and will follow the route historical site of Souli – (Pigadia) – Kougi – Kiafa – Castle of Kiafa. It is A’ category, lasting 4-5 hours and the captains will be Vasilios Tsolis and Dimitrios Moraitis.
The second course will start from the historical site of Souli and will reach Voutsi or Kakosouli at an altitude of 1,553 m, through the Murgas plateau (1,200 m). It is a class B course, circular, lasting 8 hours and the leaders will be Georgios Boutzas and Maria Gitsa.
If the weather conditions are unfavorable, the degree of difficulty is increased and the route will be re-evaluated on site. Equipment: hiking boots, pair of walking sticks, gloves, cap, hot drink in a thermos, individual pharmacy, windproof – waterproof, sunglasses, water (at least 2L), hat, suitable backpack. Clothing appropriate for the season and a second change of clothes.
