/ The Iraqi handball team was able to achieve victory over its host, the Qatari Al-Rayyan team, by a difference of five goals, with a score of 29-24 goals.
The head of the Iraqi Handball Federation, Ahmed Riyad, told Agency: “The match was held within the training camp currently held for our national team in the Qatari capital, Doha.”
The Federation President added, “The training camp for our team in Qatar will continue until the 7th of this month,” explaining that “it is a final stage before entering the Asian competitions.”
He stated, “The team will leave after its current camp, heading to the Kingdom of Bahrain to participate in the Asian Championship, which is considered a qualifier for the World Cup.”
He pointed out that “the team also participated in its camp in the Qatar International Championship, and the benefit was great for the players despite its loss to Algeria by 35-39 goals, and to the Qatar team by 29-34 goals.”
The draw placed the Iraqi team in the third group alongside the teams of Japan, India and Saudi Arabia.
