The film focuses on Sophie (Anne Hathaway). Sophie is a 40-year-old mother raising her daughter alone. Going to Coachella Music and Arts Festival Sophie becomes involved in a romantic story with 24-year-old pop star Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the frontman of the boy band August Moon.

When will ‘The Idea of You’ be released?
“The Idea of You” is set to release on May 2, 2024 exclusively on Prime Video. Before its official release, it is scheduled to have its world premiere in Austin, Texas on March 16, 2024. Specifically, it will be the closing film of the South by Southwest film festival. At the same festival, other highly anticipated films such as The Fall Guy, Road House, Monkey Man and Y2K are set to premiere.

Sophie is a 40-year-old divorced mother whose husband left her for a younger woman. Things take a complicated turn and Sophie finds herself at the Coachella Festival with her daughter. There he meets Hayes Campbell, the 24-year-old frontman of the band August Moon. “I don’t know how to feel about Amazon’s ‘The Idea of You.’ I loved the book, but I find it hard to see Anne Hathaway as the lead. She looks so young,” someone said in a comment on Twitter/X.
Another talked about the wrong approach to the film, explaining that the book is not intended to be a romance, as presented in the trailer.
“The Idea of You is wrong on so many levels. No importance is given to the fact that in the book she remembers their story after the breakup and it ends with the realization that his attachment to older women is because of the issues he has with his mother and they can’t continue it. It shouldn’t be a movie that focuses on romance,” he said.
Quite a few netizens seem to have read the book, however not all are negatively biased like the person who wrote the comment above. Many are looking forward to seeing the film and have high expectations.
