Papastamatopoulou qualified for the Paralympic Games “Paris 2024”

The athlete of AS Taekwondo Ioannina Elena Papastamatopoulou secured her qualification for the Paralympic Games that will take place this summer in Paris, as she won the gold medal in the Sofia pre-Olympic tournament that took place today.

According to an announcement by the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation, Papastamatopoulou will be the first Greek parataekwondo athlete to take part in the world’s top competition.
In detail the press release of the Hellenic Taekwondo Federation: “Eleni Papastamatopoulou, with a 35-1 victory over BAN Diana noemi (HUN), won first place in the +65kg K44 category at the pre-Olympic tournament in Sofia and secured qualification to the Paralympic Games of the French capital. It should be noted that this is the first time that a Greek parataekwondo athlete has qualified for the Paralympic Games. The responsible coach of Papastamatopoulou at the tournament in Sofia was Kyriaki Hatzogiannakis, while the team leader was Vassilis Zikos.”
