Stockholm: Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg has protested against reports that the government is considering allowing iron ore mining in northern Sweden. Members of the Sami tribe in Sweden are also accused of miningIs on the scene with the damage. About 40,000 Sami members in the country claim that granting mining permits would seriously affect fishing and hunting, as well as endanger the habitat. The government will take a decision next month on whether to allow mining in the wake of massive protests over the project. The UK-based Beowulf-led project will create between 250 and 300 jobs. Greta said the emphasis should be on environmental values and the well-being of mankind rather than short-term gain.
