New Delhi: The Congress responded to the Trinamool Congress, which announced its candidates for all 42 seats in Bengal, stating that it will contest the Lok Sabha elections alone. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh noted on X Platform that he had expressed his desire to make an agreement on seat-sharing with the Trinamool in Bengal several times.

“In Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has repeatedly expressed its desire to strike a seat-sharing agreement. The Congress believes that such an agreement should be finalized through negotiations and not through unilateral declarations. Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary also criticized Mamata. “It has proved that no political party in India should trust a leader like Mamata. Mamata fears that the Prime Minister will be unhappy if she stays in the India alliance. After India left the alliance, Mamata gave a clear message to the Prime Minister that she is not fighting against the BJP and there is no need for unhappiness,” said Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary.
Days after the Congress said that the doors are still open for seat-sharing discussions in the Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool announced its candidates stating that India is not with the alliance. Trinamool Congress president and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata announced the list of 42 candidates at the mega rally held at the historic Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata.
