Former Qarabag football player Bakhtiyar Musayev told İdman.biz.
The 50-year-old specialist commented on Qarabag’s game against Bayer (2:2) in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League stage. He stated that he did not have enough luck and strength to win:
“Physical fatigue was also felt in the match between Qarabag and Neftchi in the Azerbaijani championship. Luck and fatigue did not allow us to win. Xabi Alonso, as usual, changed the lineup. One of their main goals is the championship in Germany. The fact that the team Gurbana Gurbanova did not give them a chance in the first half and played much better football, forcing the Spaniard to make changes. Qarabag showed an excellent team game. We can say that there were no weak players for the team. But separately I would like to mention Olavio Juninho, Yassin Benzia , Marko Vesovic, Marko Jankovic. All our players showed themselves both in team play and individually.”
Musaev said that Qarabag will face a difficult game in the return match:
“The whole world knows the strength of Bayer. Everyone is talking about them. They are the best team in Europe at the moment. Even a 2-0 win at home wouldn’t make us the superior team in the return leg. The score was 2-2. It will be difficult. I hope that Qarabag will perform another miracle and we will move on to the next stage. I would like to believe it. But, unfortunately, we have very little chance.”
It should be noted that Qarabag will play the return match against Bayer on March 14.
