Tonight (Sunday) Shmuel Greenberg will probably be elected from the close associates of the house on Rabbi Sher Street – the home of Gard Lando, for the mayorship of Beit Shemesh – at the end of a stormy election campaign that included slander and was dragged into a second round that ended this evening as mentioned – in a sweeping and unequivocal victory for the candidate who managed to unite Clal The ultra-orthodox parties.

This is a significant achievement for Degal HaTorah when the spiritual leader of ‘Degal HaTorah’ Gared Lando went out of her way and reached Beit Shemesh in the first round.

In the second round, many dozens of yeshiva leaders gathered at the Gared’s residence alongside the arrival of the members of the Knesset carrying the Torah flag to the house on Rabbi Sher Street – where they heard that everything must be done for the ultra-Orthodox Beit Shemesh led by Greenberg.

In a special document published last Friday, Gard Lando is seen instructing Greenberg to be a city for everyone and even congratulating all the residents of the city.

However, Greenberg is only part of the great success of Degel Torah. In the ridges, after a tough battle with Shas candidate Moti Visgan, the Lithuanian candidate Yitzhak Reich won and was crowned head of the council.

In Modi’in Ilit, Yaakov Guterman was elected mayor again without having to go to an election due to his being a candidate accepted by everyone from the beginning.

In Kiryat Yaarim, Yitzhak Ravitz was elected head of the council and in dozens of cities the candidates who were supported by the Torah banner were elected even in places where there was a hard battle such as Yossi Asraf in Givat Ze’ev, Yossi Nevea in Tiberias and more.

Even before the elections, the head of the yeshiva and the spiritual leader of the ‘Degal HaTorah’ Gard Lando, received the representatives from all over the country to give greetings and support and in many cities Degal HaTorah brought in a representative for the first time.

In the large ultra-orthodox cities such as Jerusalem and Bnei Brak – Degal HaTorah is the largest party, while in Bnei Brak the faction led by Mayor Menachem Shapira received 10 representatives, followed by the other parties by a wide margin.

In Jerusalem, the Torah Banner headed by faction chairman Eliezer Rauchberger received 6 representatives with the largest number of votes.

In other major cities, great success was recorded, such as Tiberias, where for the first time the Torah flag received 5 seats in the city council, with the support of the Rabbi Dov Kook.

A senior member of Degal HaTorah tells the Shabbat Square that “the success of the party in the whole country is because the leaders of the generation, headed by the head of the yeshiva Rabbi Dov Lando, give the instructions and when the leaders of the generation take responsibility there is a divine helper.”
