HOLMENKOLLEN (Nettavisen): Frida Karlsson was in a class of her own when she won the five-mile in Holmenkollen on Saturday afternoon.

It is tradition that the winner of the Kollen race goes up to the royal stand and greets the royal family after the race – and Karlsson was no exception.

On TV 2’s broadcast, Karlsson could be heard wishing a speedy recovery to King Harald, who has been ill in recent weeks. The king is currently admitted to the national hospital and has undergone surgery to insert a temporary pacemaker.

The royal family politely thanked the Swede for the words.

In front of Nettavisen, she reveals more about what it was like to greet the royal family.

– They were really nice, really. They had their feet on the ground and they seemed interested in skiing. It was fun, says Karlsson to Nettavisen.

– What were you talking about?

– We talked a bit about the race, first of all, she says.

Queen Sonja, Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Haakon, Prince Sverre Magnus and Princess Ingrid Alexandra were among those who were present and followed the race from the royal stand in Holmenkollen. Representatives from the Norwegian Ski Association were also present.
