SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) will provide KazMunayGas JSC (KMG, the national oil and gas company of Kazakhstan) with proposals for the Baku-Supsa route within a month.

As Day.Az reports, Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas JSC Magzum Mirzagaliyev said this in an exclusive interview with Trend during his visit to Baku.

“At a meeting with Mr. Rovshan Najafov (President of SOCAR), we agreed that within a month SOCAR will provide us with proposals on the Baku-Supsa route, including on tariff policy,” he said.

Earlier, a source in the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan reported that the issue of the possibility of transporting Kazakh oil through the Baku-Supsa oil pipeline in the amount of up to 3 million tons per year is being discussed with the Azerbaijani side.

This was then confirmed by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Almasadam Satkaliev. “The possibility of using the Baku-Supsa pipeline, whose throughput capacity is 5 million tons per year, is being analyzed. In general, discussions in this direction continue with all interested parties,” he said on the sidelines of a government meeting.

Back in 2022, Azerbaijan offered Kazakhstan the use of the Baku-Supsa pipeline. The capacity of Baku-Supsa is 5-6 million tons of oil per year.

Meanwhile, in 2023, Kazakhstan transported 1.39 million tons of oil through Baku, which passed through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.
