Azerbaijani boxer Nijat Huseynov won a license for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

As Day.Az reports, our two-time European champion, competing in the weight category up to 51 kg, achieved this by defeating Roscoe Hill (USA) in the 1/4 finals of the First World Olympic Qualifying Tournament, held in Busto Arsizio, Italy.

Before this match, Huseynov, who won a landslide victory over World Championship bronze medalist Deepak Deepak (India), World Championship finalist, European champion Sahil Alahverdovi (Georgia) and continental vice-champion Rudolf Garboyan, left the ring victorious this time. A member of the national team, who defeated his opponent – an American, silver medalist of the World Championship – with a score of 3:2, received a license, advancing to the semi-finals.

As a result, the number of licenses won by our boxing team for Paris 2024 increased to 3. Before Huseynov, Murad Allahverdiev (80 kg) and Magomed Abdullaev (+92 kg) took part in the Olympics at the III European Games.
