Johannes høsflot Klæbo, Cross-country skiing | Johannes Høsflot Klæbo to the top of the five-mile in Holmenkollen – triple Norwegian

by time news

HOLMENKOLLEN (Nettavisen): The five-mile in Kollen developed into a nail-biter, where Johannes Høsflot Klæbo brought out his superpowers in the last hundred meters and secured the victory on home ground.

It is the Trønder’s first five-mile victory in his career.

– Nobody can take this victory away from you, exclaimed TV 2’s Marius Skjelbæk.

– It was fun. It’s kind of been something that’s been hanging over me, that I haven’t won a five-mile, so it was good to nail it. It tastes good, says the winner to TV 2 after the finish line.

– It didn’t go fast today, but steadily. Then it was just a matter of saving energy for the end, he continues.

Martin Nyenget took second place, while Pål Golberg took third place.

Greeted the royal family

Now only gold in a distance race in the WC and Olympics remains before Klæbo has won everything, as Nettavisen’s commentator Ernst A. Lersveen points out at X.

After the race, Klæbo marched up to the royal tribune and greeted the royal family. King Harald is known to be ill, and will not be in Holmenkollen this weekend.

Northug: – Now you have to be on

After 15 kilometers with a united main field, Nyenget decided to pick up the pace at the front.

It created a stretch in the field and several runners had problems keeping a corresponding pace. Finnish Niskanen also looked sharp and contributed to the front on several occasions.

– Now you really have to be careful if you want to take part in this, said TV 2’s expert Petter Northug.

The hard drive continued for the following kilometers. A Norwegian super trio consisting of Klæbo, Amundsen and Nyenget did not want to take any free passengers with them and drove the field hard before changing skis.

Nervedrama

The Norwegians at the front looked strong after changing skis, and the hope of a Norwegian victory grew with each pole lift.

After 33.2 kilometers it was six times Norwegian, consisting of Golberg, Klæbo, Amundsen, Nyenget, Valnes and Tønseth. However, several of the foreigners followed closely.

With ten kilometers to go, when it started to drag, Northug asked “The question now is who will attempt an attack first?”.

It eventually developed into a sprint duel, which Klæbo won ahead of Nyenget and Golberg. Harald Østberg Amundsen and Didrik Tønseth took fourth and fifth place.
