New Delhi: March 12 was a mixed day for Indian cricket. When a good news came, two shocks shook the fans. Some will be very excited and some will have wrinkles on their forehead. In fact, BCCI on Tuesday declared Rishabh Pant fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Pant suffered serious injuries in a horrific road accident on the night of 30 December 2022, after which after several surgeries and long rehab, he is ready to take over the captaincy of Delhi Capitals again.
Shami out of IPL and T-20 World Cup
Gujarat Titans’ senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who has been away from competitive cricket since the ODI World Cup final last year, has been out of the IPL and then the T20 World Cup. Shami is recovering from heel surgery and is not expected to return before September this year. BCCI said, “The fast bowler successfully underwent surgery for his right heel problem on February 26, 2024.” The BCCI medical team is keeping an eye on him and he is out of the upcoming IPL 2024. Now it is almost impossible for Shami to play even in the T-20 World Cup.
Famous Krishna did not recover from injury
On the other hand, Karnataka’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is out of the Indian Premier League due to injury. He plays for Rajasthan Royals. The BCCI medical team is also keeping an eye on Prasidh. BCCI said, ‘This fast bowler underwent surgery on his left thigh on 23 February 2024 and rehabilitation will start at NCA soon. He will not be able to participate in the upcoming IPL 2024. 28-year-old Prasidh Krishna has played two Tests, 17 ODIs and five T20 Internationals for India.
