The press service of Samvel Babayan, the former secretary of the Artsakh Security Council, made a statement.
“Recently, the press and social media have been circulating information about Samvel Babayan allegedly recruiting Artsakh citizens and returning them to Artsakh.
Taking into account the sensitivity of the problem and the great temptation to capitalize on it by social and political circles, we declare that Samvel Babayan is not engaged in such activities individually or cooperatively.
Instead, he presented comprehensive approaches to the discussion of the representative body of the Republic of Artsakh and the government regarding the status of Nagorno Karabakh and the return of the Armenian population. With those approaches, it was suggested to form a relevant working group, to endow it with the authority to conduct direct negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on the status of Nagorno Karabakh and the return of the Armenian population.
In addition to this, Samvel Babayan always emphasizes in his public speech that discussing the possibility of the return of the population, without clarifying the status of Nagorno Karabakh, is an adventure.
Samvel Babayan also has information about the business activities of groups dealing with the listing of Artsakh citizens. In this regard, he calls on the law enforcement agencies to carry out appropriate work in this direction, and urges the compatriots of Artsakh not to believe the false promises of the self-proclaimed saviors and not to contribute to their business activities,” the statement reads.
