“I would like to start my March note with a few words that, it seems to me, perfectly describe the development of gymnastics: the pursuit of excellence, breaking through to Paris 2024…”

As İdman.biz reports, the head of European Gymnastics, Farid Gaibov, spoke about this in the traditional column “Notes of the President,” published on the website of the organization he heads.

He touched on the highlights of the past month. “There are no other words that could better express the integrity and passion of the gymnasts performing in the FIG World Cup qualifying series for the Olympics.

We saw a large turnout in the Artistic Gymnastics (Cairo/Cottbus/Baku) and Trampoline Gymnastics (Baku) World Cup series as athletes sought to rack up more qualifying points. I was able to watch the trampoline competitions on February 23-25 and artistic gymnastics on March 7-10, held in my home country, where the atmosphere was incredibly stunning,” emphasized F. Gaibov.

He also spoke about the first meeting of the FIG Executive Committee this year, which was held in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, from February 27 to 29. “We had a very busy schedule, as the agenda was full of important issues to discuss, and we managed to make several decisions: the FIG Competition Code was approved in several disciplines, changes were made to the General Judging Rules, Special Judging Rules, World Championship Rules, Accreditation rules, etc., which will come into force next year.

The geography of the newly identified four events is primarily based in Europe. Portugal (2024 Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships and World Age Group Competitions), Spain (2025 World Trampoline Championships and World Age Group Trampoline Competitions), Bulgaria (2025 World Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships ) and Romania (World Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships 2027) will host important gymnastics competitions in the coming years.

All of these federations are active in the gymnastics community and have extensive experience in organizing gymnastics competitions. I have no doubt that the level of all events will be high,” noted the President of European Gymnastics.

F. Gaibov also added: “It is obvious that every event held on our continent contributes to the development of gymnastics as a whole. The same applies to all the decisions we make together and the subsequent representation of Europe throughout the world.

The goal is always the same – to make gymnastics more spectacular and significant in the world of sports.”
