jpnn.comJAKARTA – General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, responded to the possibility of his party winning the position of chairman of the DPR RI for the 2024-2029 period.
Airlangga stated that the Golkar Party did not have a scenario to win the chair of the next DPR RI, because his party was committed to following the existing mechanism.
“The Golkar Party has never seized (the DPR chairman’s seat). We are following the existing mechanism, yes, and there is no scenario (seizing the DPR chairman’s seat),” said Airlangga.
He emphasized this in a press conference after the plenary meeting with the Central Leadership Council (DPP) and Golkar Party cadres at the Golkar Party DPP Office, West Jakarta, Sunday (10/3).
Airlangga said the issue of determining the chairman of the DPR would be decided after the DPR members for the 2024–2029 period were officially inaugurated in October 2024.
“We will decide on DPR issues after the DPR (members) are inaugurated on October 1,” he added.
On that occasion, Airlangga claimed that the Golkar Party won in 15 provinces based on the results of the preliminary vote recapitulation of the 2024 Legislative Member Election (Pileg) by the Indonesian KPU.
Therefore, he believes that the Golkar Party will get significant seats in Senayan.
