The Europe, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development Forum, the only annual event in Rhodes on the subject of Sustainable Development and Entrepreneurship, returns with a central theme of “Culture, Social Innovation & Tourism”.

With large events open to the public, as well as workshops and masterclasses, this year’s EESD Forum becomes international and welcomes scientists and experts from Greece, Germany, Tunisia and Jordan.

The purpose of this year’s event is to examine how Culture and Social Innovation can help local communities, especially those based on Tourism, to enrich their economic model. Culture, over time a comparative advantage of Rhodes, is much more than monuments, tangible and intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, Social Entrepreneurship creates new data as it blurs the boundaries between Society and Economy, while targeted policies, such as those for young people, give a completely new dynamic to local communities. How can local communities combine all of the above, simultaneously with the positives and negatives of tourism development and achieve the desired social innovation that will differentiate them from the rest and at the same time shield them and lead them to a sustainable future?

The EESD Forum 2024 starts with the open event “Challenges and Opportunities for the European Union ahead of the European Elections”. In less than three months we are invited to vote for our representatives in the European Parliament. As we will choose the persons and formations that will represent us and co-shape the future of Europe for the next 5 years, what are the biggest challenges for Europe and Greece? What are the opportunities that should not be missed?

The discussion panel consists of:

– Dimitrios Triantafillou, Professor of International Politics, Panteion University, and – Panagiota Manoli, Associate Professor of International Economics, University of Peloponnese.

It will be moderated by Sotirios Dalis, Associate Professor of International Politics & European Integration and President of the Mediterranean Studies Department of the University of the Aegean.
