Israel will officially take part in Eurovision 2024.

Channel 12 reported this.

After the song’s title was changed to Hurricane, the Israeli Eurovision entry was approved by the European Broadcasting Union. Thus, Aden Golan will perform the song “Hurricane” on stage in Sweden.

The final version of the song will be presented this Sunday on the special channel Kan 11. It is known that yesterday, March 6, the corporation submitted a new text for final approval by the European Broadcasting Union, because the previous song “October Rain” was perceived as too political in the context October 7 massacre carried out by Hamas terrorists.

The Israeli side initially took a hard line, but after intervention from various parties, including the country’s President Isaac Herzog, they agreed to change the lyrics and title of the song.

We previously wrote that Bashar Murad, a Palestinian artist originally from Jerusalem, gave up the opportunity to Hera Björk to represent Iceland at the Eurovision music competition this year.

At the qualifying stage, performing in a white jacket decorated with red ornaments and a symbol of a broken heart, Murad presented the composition “Wild West”. He reached the stage of “super finalists”, but in the final battle lost to the composition “Scared of Heights” performed by Björk.

Murad explained that his track “Wild West” is about “longing for freedom of movement” and includes the lyrics “I’m on the road again, how did it come to this? / Don’t know where I’m going, but I’m looking for eternal bliss.” The video for this song actively uses the colors of the Palestinian flag.

Having completed his speech, Murad shared live his experiences about how strange it is to rejoice when his “people are being exterminated.” He expressed his hope to continue sharing the Palestinian story with the world.
