A very large gathering and demonstration of support for the 13-year-old – today – I survived the Colonos that started from the Propylaia and ended a little while ago in which collectives such as the Solidarity Committee for the 12-year-old were invited. The presence of the family’s children at the head of the march was touching. “We break the fear”, “not in the cover-up”. Protesters denounced the targeting of the girl and her family and the unacceptable prosecutorial proposal that the prime suspect in the case simply…facilitated the 12-year-old girl’s extradition and did not plead guilty to even serial rape.

The Solidarity Committee’s call to the 12-year-old said:
Today, the whole society angrily watches the prosecutor Maria-Eleni Nikolou with her proposal to wash away the child rapist and pimp Ilias Michos and the rest of the child rapists, while at the same time accusing the mother of the 12-year-old girl of betraying her child. The system works well and proves it once again. The police, obviously involved in mafia circles as we have seen from a series of cases that prove it (Greek mafia case, Ilioupoli case) not only did not collect evidence for the guilt of the accused. Not only did he not investigate the brothel where the 12-year-old girl complained that Michos had sent her, but every time he discouraged the 12-year-old’s mother and all the relatives from making any complaint they wanted to make. The media, with their own role, that of building a good profile and an easy-to-digest narrative for every child rapist and rapist, wove the praise of the good boss and respectable citizen both for Mihos and for the rest of the child rapists, as for example the dermatologist who ran a practice in our neighborhood. And thus paved the road from every power factor of this society reaches today to the prosecutor’s proposal, so that the justice in its turn puts its own stone in the condemnation of all the poor and vulnerable survivors of this society. Because the only conclusion that can come out of this prosecution proposal is that the poor and vulnerable people in this society are exposed, anything can happen to them. They may be killed on a train or kicked by some boss one afternoon in Omonia, rushed, abused, threatened and finally punished for speaking up, for standing up. The Prosecutor’s proposal does not simply acquit Mihos and clear the rest of the involved child rapists, but condemns the 12-year-old survivor and every other victim, child or woman, to lifelong isolation and deadlock, because she dared and broke the circle of silence. Of course, justice reserves the same for her mother who dared to break the cycle of oppression and oppression of her child.
However, the real strength of this society is us, we who live in the slums, who work for three and sixty and cannot make ends meet, we who are tired of fearing for ourselves and the same, for our girlfriends, for our acquaintances, for our children, the children of our friends if they are okay, if they will come back safe tonight, we who do not find our right anywhere, the most vulnerable of us, we are the most angry and no court can bypass us. In our neighborhoods and in all the neighborhoods of Athens, pimps, rapists, child rapists have already been found guilty and cannot fit in, without a decision of any civil court. We patrol our neighborhoods, we treat and build a network of solidarity for victims and survivors and our rage will sweep them away.
