Israeli airline Arkie announced that an additional fee for passenger baggage will come into force on March 17.

For hand luggage in the form of a small suitcase on wheels you will have to pay 10 shekels when pre-ordered or 15 shekels at the airport. The cost of checked baggage weighing up to 20 kg will be 20 shekels one way if booked in advance and 30 shekels at the airport.

For passengers booking a full-fare flight, baggage up to 20 kg and trolley up to 8 kg are guaranteed at no additional charge.

Note that Arkia Israel Airlines is an Israeli airline founded in 1949, with headquarters in Tel Aviv. It is the second largest airline in our country, serving domestic and international flights to Europe and the Mediterranean. The airline is based at Ben Gurion Airport.

We previously wrote that the airline from Ireland, RyanAir, which became a pioneer among low-cost carriers in returning to Israeli destinations, recently stopped its flights to our country. The reason was stated to be the high airport tax rates charged at Terminal 3.

Before the war, the airline made payments for the use of Terminal 1, where fees were lower. It is known that Terminal 1 has not been operational since mid-October last year.

Cursor also reported that military operations in Gaza contributed to the improvement of El Al Israel Airlines Ltd’s financial performance for the fourth quarter. With almost all foreign airlines ceasing flights to and from Israel in the last quarter of 2023, El Al has a virtual monopoly on numerous routes to and from Tel Aviv. As a result, El Al’s market share for the fourth quarter of 2023 reached 80%, while in the previous quarter it was only 22%.
