Many people like to put various potted plants on the windowsill, although according to experts, it would be better to put them further away. But that’s not the only thing we should be wary of.
Here are eight things in connection with which experts recommend that we never store them on the windowsill – writes Bors in an article based on the Daily Star.
Deodorants
If the deodorant bottle is exposed to direct sunlight for too long, the pressure starts to rise inside and may explode. It is better to store them in a closed bag or in the cupboard.
Food
The windowsill may seem like a good place for the fruit basket, but unfortunately, this attracts the annoying flies.
Mirror
A mirror placed on a windowsill can be a fire hazard: the strong rays of the sun can cause a huge problem even in cold weather.
Perfumes
Perfumes can deteriorate due to temperature fluctuations, especially if they are stored in a dark, cool place.
Candle
The sun shining on the window can light the candle, even if it is not too hot outside, and this can cause a fire.
Fragile or valuable items
Fragile objects, such as a framed picture, hinder the use of the window and make it more likely to break when you try to open it or clean up around it.
Cell phone
Phones can easily overheat when stored on windowsills. The battery can become dangerously hot and even explode.
Plants
There are plants that like sunlight, but if they are exposed to the rays for too long, it can lead to burning of the leaves. So make sure you don’t leave them on the windowsill all day: change the location of the plants, or close the blinds.
