The Fencing Federation announces its readiness to host the World and Asian Championships

The President of the Central Fencing Federation announced that Iraq is ready to host the World and Asian Championships scheduled to be held in Baghdad next October, in addition to hosting the competitions in the west of the continent, noting that he will work to address and implement all the observations recorded by the international inspection committee that visited the sports halls in the country.

Ziad Hassan said in a statement to Al-Sabah newspaper and followed by the (INA), today, Tuesday, that “Iraq is ready to host the Asian Championship from the fourth to the twelfth of next October, and the World Cup competitions for the period from the twenty-eighth of October to the seventh of October.” Next November, we seek to make the two tournaments synchronized with each other, close in time, and facilitate administrative and technical matters and the process of the arrival of participating teams.”
He stressed “the importance of addressing all the technical gaps and all the observations recorded by the international inspection committee that visited the sports halls and stopped at their organizational capacity, especially after the arrival of many advanced sports equipment from international origins, which will reflect positively on the preparations of our national teams and local clubs.”
He added, “His federation is continuing to follow up on the talent program, especially after the National Olympic Committee agreed to allocate the necessary funds, by holding an external training camp in Kuwait that will last for ten days with the participation of (24) players, where training is conducted in two periods, morning and evening, in addition to playing matches and training.” Shared with the Kuwaiti national team, which is considered one of the best developed Asian teams.”
He concluded his statement by saying, “This year (2024) will also witness the holding of the West Asian Championship in Baghdad, and its date will be determined during the next meeting, praising the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Olympic Committee, which provided all the requirements for the success of these championships.”
