The Azerbaijani Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev in Uzbekistan has implemented another project to translate and publish works of Azerbaijani writers. At the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, a presentation of the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” by the Azerbaijani writer Mamed Said Ordubadi, published in Uzbek, was held, the press service of the ACC reported to Day.Az.

First, the event participants got acquainted with the exhibition of books “The Rising Sun in Ganja” organized by the ACC, consisting of publications in the Uzbek language related to the work of Nizami Ganjavi.

Director of the ACC Samir Abbasov spoke about literary ties between the two countries and noted the great interest of Uzbek readers in the works of Azerbaijani authors. It was noted that within the framework of the “Year of Nizami Ganjavi”, five works “Khamsa” by the brilliant thinker, a monograph by Uzbek scientists about Turkism in the works of Nizami Ganjavi, were published. The translation and publication of the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” by Mamed Said Ordubadi, presented in Uzbek, is a continuation of the above-mentioned projects.

Speakers from representatives of culture and science, the teaching staff of the university, including Vice-Rector Sultan Nurmatov, head of the department, chairman of the International Society for Scientific Research named after Nizami Ganjavi Nurbay Jabbarov, Abdulla Ulukov, Babakhan Sharif, Uzun Koragulov, Gulbahor Ashurova assessed the publication of the novel in the Uzbek language as a historical event for the literary life of Uzbekistan. Speaking about the deep and ancient roots of Uzbek-Azerbaijani literary ties, it was noted that literary ties between the two countries have also reached a high level. As a result of the fruitful activities of the ACC, translations and publication of works by Azerbaijani writers, as well as artistic and scientific works written about the genius Nizami Ganjavi, were carried out.

In the historical novel “The Sword and the Pen” by Mamed Said Ordubadi, the image of the brilliant Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi was created on the basis of more than 300 historical sources and facts. The events mainly unfold in Ganja of the 11th-12th centuries – the period of the Ildegizid State. The main character of the work is also Nizami Ganjavi’s close friend, Fakhraddin, a talented commander and people’s defender. The character of the friends characterizes the title of the novel – “The Sword and the Pen”.

The translators of the novel into Uzbek are scientists Nazira Aliyeva, Mukhsin Hamidov and Rustam Komilov, the editor and author of the preface is scientist Abdulla Ulugov, the publication was printed in the printing center “Niso naşriyot va matbaa uyi” operating in Tashkent. The book will be distributed free of charge by the ACC to leading libraries and higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan.

At the event, the team of the Research Institute named after Muhammad Fizuli “Fuzuli Dilbandlari”, created at the university under the auspices of the ACC, recited poems in Azerbaijani and Uzbek languages.
