Hyundai-Kia will carry out a major recall for electric models based on the manufacturer’s E-GMP platform, Korean media reports. This platform is currently considered Hyundai-Kia’s main platform in terms of electric vehicle production, meaning that most of the concern’s electric models are based on this platform.

According to the publications, the recall concerns the ICCU unit – the charging control unit. According to the language of publications in Korea, in the event of a malfunction in the ICCU, the battery cannot be fully charged or the vehicle intermittently does not move. According to reports, Hyundai-Kia has already carried out voluntary repairs in Korea for the relevant models (ie replaced the unit when car owners complained) but has not yet announced a recall. As part of the recall, Hyundai-Kia will perform a software update in the vehicles and replace the ICCU unit.
