The store deaths continue: The German technology retailer Gravis has now announced that it will be closing all branches in the near future. A spokesman for the company confirmed this to “Mac & i” and “Spiegel” on Friday.
The electronics chain has specialized in Apple products since its founding. Customers could not only buy the devices from Gravis, but also have them repaired.
The portal “computerbase.de” quotes from a statement from the group: “Gravis was successful for many years. However, Gravis has been struggling with a negative result since 2022. Losses have increased more or less every quarter since then.”
The electronics retailer cited increasing online trading and a decline in demand as reasons. In addition, Apple has a “restrictive conditions model”.
This means that other retailers only earn a little from the iPhone group’s products if they want to keep their prices competitive. According to unconfirmed reports, Apple is said to have reduced its margin again in recent years.

Gravis was bought by the German radio giant Freenet in 2013. There are currently 38 branches in Germany. How exactly this will be handled has not yet been decided. According to “Spiegel”, up to 400 employees are affected in an emergency.
Freenet boss Christoph Vilanek (56) told the magazine: “The only thing that is clear is that the markets will no longer exist on December 31st. We informed the employees about this on Wednesday.”
