President of Sport TV victim of kidnapping. Armed robbers invaded Joaquim Oliveira’s mansion – Nacional

The founder and president of Sport TV, Joaquim Oliveira, was kidnapped from his own home. The 77-year-old businessman’s luxury mansion, located in Cascais, was invaded by two men, hooded and armed, who kept Joaquim Oliveira, his wife and some of the couple’s friends kidnapped for around half an hour, reports the “Morning mail”.

The kidnapping took place around 10 pm on February 1st. The thieves jumped over the walls of the property, broke in a window and ended up entering the mansion. Joaquim Oliveira — who is present in the SAD of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Futebol Clube do Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal — and his wife were receiving friends at home that night, and it was precisely the guests who first spotted the pair of criminals.

The kidnapping victims were forced to lie on the floor, the same publication highlights, while the two armed robbers ransacked the residence looking for valuables.

However, The criminals ended up escaping after half an hour, due to quick action by Joaquim Oliveira’s wife. The businessman’s companion was in another part of the house when she noticed the invasion and managed to trigger an audible alarm that scared the robbers, who ended up leaving the mansion without any stolen items.

The victims did not need medical help and, currently, the investigation of the crime is in charge of the Judiciary Police. As “CM” highlights, one of the authorities’ lines of investigation is to link this crime to the wave of robberies that devastated luxury homes in the municipalities of Cascais and Oeiras, in the year 2023.
