by time news

With her post, a few minutes ago, the MEP of New Democracy, Anna-Michel Asimakopoulou, announced that she will not, again, be a candidate for the European Parliament.

“I am submitting today to the ADPPH, as requested, information concerning the well-known issue of sending newsletters from my office. In my political career, I have always been a “soldier” of the great faction of the ND and served it from whatever position was asked of me. As a MEP , for 5 years I fought many battles for Greece and the Greeks”, he notes.

“For this entire course I am obviously being evaluated and judged. Loyal to my principles, values and love for Greece, I have informed the Prime Minister of my decision not to participate as an MEP candidate in the upcoming European elections in June if this issue is not fully clarified. This, because my conscience does not allow me to unwittingly participate in the efforts of some to harm the institution of postal voting, the Mitsotakis Government or the prestige of Greece.

The reason now lies exclusively with the competent authorities who are investigating the case and I am sure that they will quickly end up revealing the truth and the real dimensions of the specific matter. I repeat once again that I will cooperate with them in whatever is asked of me”, says Ms. Asimakopoulou.

Earlier, Capital reported the following:

The scenarios for “cutting” Anna-Michel Asimakopoulou from the ND’s European ballot are multiplying.

In the last few hours, the information that wants Anna – Michelle Asimakopoulou not to be a candidate with the New Democracy in the European elections has been increasing, on the occasion of the case with the sending of e-mails to expatriates, which caused an uproar.

Government officials neither confirm nor deny the specific dimension, recalling the prime minister’s response to the case in the interview he gave on Sky radio. “The case with the emails that Anna Michelle Asimakopoulou allegedly sent to the expatriates must be investigated… It must be investigated by both the judiciary and the Ministry of the Interior.
