“For Patriarch Neophyte, we can say in the light of the Gospel and our faith that this man was righteous,” said Bishop Hristo Proikov, chairman of the bishops’ conference of the Catholic Church in our country, in “Speak Now” on BNT.
“I will remember him with a song. And with that kindness that he radiated until the end of his life. It also flowed from his singing. If you listen to his singing, you can feel his deep spirituality with which he sang and the faith with which he performed those things he sings,” he added.
“I have known him since the years before he was even a monk. He lived close to the church that is in the center of Sofia – the Catholic Church and we have met many times. Even from his youth it was felt that he was a very strong person in spirit, but also very deeply religious and deeply believing, which also foretold his path in life,” the bishop added.
And he also said that “Patriarch Neophyte was always looking for the good, that with which he could draw the other to himself”.
Bishop Hristo Proikov is convinced that regardless of the different branches in the Christian religion, “we are together Christians of the same God and we pray to him”.
