Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Sahib Mammadov at the forum “The impact of the transition to a green economy on consumer behavior and the consumer market: challenges and prospects” reported on the steps of the Azerbaijani government to transition to a circular economy based on the use of clean technologies, clean energy sources, clean products and services, Day.Az reports on Thursday with reference to Trend.

Mamedov noted that the government supports and implements projects related to waste processing and cleanup of contaminated areas.

“Green projects implemented with large companies are designed to transform Azerbaijan into a country of clean energy and promote investments that maintain the environmental balance,” Mammadov emphasized.

He mentioned that the choice of Azerbaijan as the host country of COP29 is an indicator of high trust in the country, as well as the result of successful cooperation with international organizations.

“There is a close coincidence of the goals set by our country in the fight against climate change with global challenges,” the deputy minister said.

He also emphasized that environmental pollution is a major factor hindering the provision of optimal living conditions for present and future generations.

“Preference for “green” services, reduction of pollution through the choice of environmentally friendly vehicles and any other actions taken at the individual and industrial levels, environmentally economical consumption of resources play an important role in protecting public health and proper economic development,” added S. Mamedov.
