Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque said that the International Labor Organization (ILO) Governing Body meeting will be held next November. There is supposed to settle the complaint about the labor rights of Bangladesh.

The Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs gave this information to reporters at the Secretariat on Monday (March 18).

When asked about the follow-up of the ILO meeting, the law minister said, “You all know that in 2019, a complaint was made to the ILO about labor rights in Bangladesh. The complaint has not yet been resolved. Repeated hearing. When there needs to be a discussion about that complaint, then there is a discussion.’

Twice a year, ILO Governing Body meetings inform them about the progress made on labor rights in Bangladesh. I did the same this time. A proposal was discussed there. That is – this time, instead of settling the complaint, it has been said to settle it next November. ILO’s governing body meeting will be held next November.

Anisul Haque said that 25 countries have participated in the discussion this time. 14 of these countries have praised Bangladesh’s labor rights. At the same time, the complaint should be closed. Apart from this, 9 other countries discussed the labor rights of Bangladesh. It acknowledged the progress made in labor rights. At the same time, it has recommended that more progress should be made. It has been agreed that the complaint should be settled next November. However, Canada and Argentina have criticized Bangladesh’s labor rights. The information they have given is old information. They did not take into account the progress that has been made now. It came out in their speech.’

He said, ‘This complaint is being prolonged, Bangladesh is not being properly judged. We hope and are assured, the 14th will be settled next November.’

Regarding whether the amended labor law will be passed in the next parliament, the law minister said, ‘I hope it will be passed in the next parliament.’
