jpnn.comJAKARTA – The discourse about President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka joining as cadres and the highest leadership in the Golkar Party has reaped pros and cons among the public, especially within the party bearing the banyan tree symbol.

The emergence of this issue is in line with the plans for the Golkar Party National Conference which will be held in December 2024.

Not a few have subtly ‘rejected’ Jokowi and Gibran’s joining Golkar.

One of them was conveyed by the Chairman of the Golkar Party DPP Advisory Board, Aburizal Bakrie.

Aburizal said that Golkar has Articles of Association/Bylaws (AD/ART) or internal party rules that regulate the conditions for becoming general chairman.

Then, North Jakarta Central Chair of the Indonesian Socialist Employees Organization (SOKSI), Rouli Rajagukguk, said that the name Hutomo Mandala Putra alias Tommy Soeharto was more suitable if he was proposed as a Golkar Party candidate to compete with several names that were rumored to be running in the Golkar National Conference.
