This important announcement was made by the authorities delegated by the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa Azin, on the afternoon of this Wednesday, March 6, in the Patate canton, province of Tungurahua, in the company of the mayor of this city, Hernán Medina, the president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, Francisco Egas, the governor of Tungurahua, Luis Vargas, local authorities, young athletes and citizens in general.

“This is an initiative that is born from the commitment of President Daniel Noboa to build a New Ecuador and that seeks to positively transform the lives of our girls, adolescents and young people,” said Minister Rovira.

Furthermore, he added that this is a joint effort of the ministries that make up the Social Development Cabinet, especially the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES), as well as the Ministry of Sports, in conjunction with the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF). ), the DNA Foundation and private companies. “This project reflects the commitment of our Government, not only with sports development, but also with the social inclusion of our nation,” he said.

The Ruta Goleadoras project, “Ecuador Changes the Game” is an outstanding initiative that promotes gender equality and the well-being of girls and young people through soccer. It is based on the Goleadoras methodology, an internationally recognized program, implemented and endorsed by Columbia University in New York, for its impact on gender equality.

Minister Guschmer stated that this initiative will benefit 1,500 girls and adolescents in the country, who will receive technical sports training and strengthening in different socio-emotional skills. Likewise, he pointed out that this project will benefit 200 facilitators with new work methodologies and more than 100 leagues will be strengthened with the exchange of knowledge.

For his part, the president of the FEF, Francisco Egas, said that this project will have the full support of the federation, to work together to reduce inequality gaps and improve the lives of many girls and adolescents. “I don’t know of a football that cannot carry a message of inclusion, non-violence or gender equality if it does not have the participation of the State,” he said.

Through this inter-institutional initiative, we also seek to break gender stereotypes and empower participants through the practice of this sport, training girls and young people in leadership, assertiveness and effective communication. It will include mini provincial tournaments and will culminate with a great event, the Goleadoras Cup, evaluating not only the game but the learning obtained.
