The World Health Organization provided a set of advice regarding proper healthy nutrition during the holy month of Ramadan.

Dr. Ayoub Al-Jawalda, Regional Nutrition Advisor at the World Health Organization, stressed to the Veto website the need to provide the body with healthy food, focus on eating whole grains, vegetables and fruits, and reduce sugars and salts, warning against excessive salt intake because it helps with high blood pressure.

Al-Jawalda advised avoiding hydrogenated oils and following the grilled or boiled cooking method, which is better than the frying method.

The Regional Nutrition Advisor at the World Health Organization said: Fasting during the month of Ramadan has multiple benefits and is an opportunity to renew activity, get rid of dead cells, and increase growth hormones.

He explained that it has been scientifically proven that fasting for long periods of more than 10 hours helps get rid of dead cells in the body, warning against wrong practices during the fasting period, including excessive food intake, fatty meals, and eating all night and during the suhoor period.

The Regional Advisor to the World Health Organization pointed out that a person needs a specific number of calories during the day, pointing out that Ramadan fasting is an opportunity to reduce weight and reduce obesity, and that eating poorly spoils the benefits of fasting, warning against eating a lot of sweets, fried foods, fats and salts.

He stressed that the month of Ramadan is an opportunity to renew one’s lifestyle, explaining that it is possible to lose weight at a rate of one kilo per week and lose weight during the month of Ramadan.

Al-Jawalda advised that it is necessary to focus on healthy food, eat vegetables, grilled food, fish and white meat, and avoid unhealthy processed meats because they are among the causes of cancer.
