In accordance with the guidelines on designation and operation of special opportunity development zones notified by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on the 4th, Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province surveyed and analyzed rear sites where companies in each of the province’s major high-tech industries can move in and collected opinions from cities and counties to develop areas such as bio, future mobility, carbon convergence, etc. We are preparing to designate special opportunity development zones focusing on four fields, including high-tech logistics.
Special Opportunity Development Zones are a system that provides a package of regulatory special treatment, tax and financial support, and improvement of settlement conditions to companies that have signed an investment agreement with the local government in order to attract large-scale corporate investment in the local area.
In order to be designated as a special opportunity development zone, investment from related companies is a necessary condition. Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province and the city selected major companies to attract by field and signed agreements with companies that will invest first in Jeonju and Gimje cities.
Jeonju City is planning to foster the carbon convergence industry centered on the Carbon National Industrial Complex, and has signed an investment agreement worth 100 billion won with six carbon-related companies, including Babs, RPT, Gayami, TMC, Hise Composite Industry, and Eco&Tech. did.
These companies are carbon front-end industrial companies that produce aircraft parts and automobile engine parts using carbon fiber, and have established a value chain system for the carbon industry together with Hyosung Advanced Materials, a carbon material production company located in Jeonju. Hyosung Advanced Materials is a large company that promised a large-scale investment of KRW 680 billion in an eco-friendly high-tech industrial complex (Phase 3-1) in 2019 and is currently constructing a factory. In order to foster the Jeonju carbon industry and designate a special opportunity development zone, Hyosung Advanced Materials is a large company with Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province, Jeonju City, and Korea Carbon. A business agreement was signed with the Korea Industrial Promotion Agency.
Gimje City is doing its best to attract companies such as automobile parts and special vehicles to create Horizon 2 Industrial Complex and Baekgu General Industrial Complex into a mecca for the future mobility industry.
At this agreement ceremony, seven medium-sized companies, including Daeseung, Ilgang, Daeseung Precision, HRE&I, Miracle, Changlim Moats, and AM Special, participated and promised an investment of 400 billion won.
Daeseung, Daeseung Precision, and Ilgang, leading auto parts companies; HR E&I and Miracle, which develops and produces eco-friendly construction machinery; Changlim Moats, a company specializing in welfare vehicles and double-decker electric buses; and AM Specialty, a company specializing in environmental cleaning vehicles.
