The Barcelona administration began its efforts to fortify the young defender (Pau Cobarci) to protect him from the ambitions of other European clubs.
The young Spanish defender was able to impose himself on Barca’s formation this season, gaining the trust of its coach, Xavi Hernandez, who has relied on him constantly in the recent period.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Catalan club sent an offer of a new contract to the 17-year-old, to persuade him to sign it.
He pointed out Barcelona’s desire to give Kuparsi a long-term contract, with an increase in his salary, and to include a penalty clause worth one billion euros.
Barcelona’s board of directors, headed by Joan Laporta, hopes to resolve this issue before the end of the current season.
Cobarci appeared with the first team this season in 10 matches in La Liga, while he had the opportunity to appear in two matches in the Spanish King’s Cup and a match in the Champions League.
