BOLZANO. The Provincial Government appointed today (26 March) the 15 members (and substitutes) of the new Provincial Commission for equal opportunities for women, established in 1989. A decision arrived “by majority”, as President Kompatscher explained in the press conference , after councilor Galateo (FdI) spoke of a “prejudice against Italian and Catholic area associations”.

The proposals came from various social, economic, trade union and political associations and organizations and, taking into account the linguistic groups, led to the nomination approved today, as reported by the president of the Province. Three members of the Commission were designated by the minority in the Provincial Council.

Here are the names: Elisabetta Bartocci (association “Es ist Zeit – If not now when“), Margareth Fink (women in the KVW), Franziska Gasser (Anti-violence centre-Merano Women’s House), Sabine Giunta (designated by the Provincial Council), Melanie Gross (Soon), Brigitte Hofer (ASGB), Hannelore Insam (Ladin representative), Christa Ladurner (Alliance for Family), Nadia Mazzardis (designated by the Provincial Council), Roberta Nicolodi (Nissà Women’s Association), Ulrike Oberhammer (SVP women’s movement), Sarah Passler (Binbi Parents Center Network), Sigrid Sissi Prader (Merano Women’s Museum Association), Petra Priller (designated by the Provincial Council) e Jutta Tappeiner Ebner (Association of South Tyrolean Women Farmers), Manuela Corradini (association “Es ist Zeit – If not now when“), Heidrun Goals (women in the KVW), Petra Kiniger (Anti-violence centre-Merano Women’s House), Claudia Bellasi (designated by the Provincial Council), Marlene Rinner (Wnet ), Andrea Zuech (ASGB), Elisabeth Frenner (Ladin representative), Ingrid Kapeller (Alliance for Family), Roberta Micheli (designated by the Provincial Council), Barbara Ricci (Nissà Women’s Association), Magdalena Perwanger (SVP women’s movement), Sandra Moszner (Network of Parents’ Centers for Children), Marlene Messner (Merano Women’s Museum Association), Maria Reichhalter (designated by the Provincial Council) ed Elisabeth Tappeiner (Association of South Tyrolean Women Farmers).

The election of the president will take place during the constitutive session, which will take place on 17 April.

Since 1989, Alto Adige has had a provincial commission for equal opportunities for women, which acts as consultative body of the provincial government and carries forward issues relating to gender equality and the promotion of women. “The provincial commission has, among other things, the task of accompanying and monitoring the implementation of the Æquitas action plan for gender equality”, informed the provincial councilor for equal opportunities and president of the province Arno Kompatscher.
