Powerful election campaigning is underway today in Ankara hours ahead of tomorrow’s local elections. Pre-election campaigning is allowed until 18:00 local time (17:00 Bulgarian time).

Literally until the last hours in which campaigning is allowed, political parties urged people to vote for their candidates.

The candidates of 34 political parties will participate in the elections on March 31, and more than 206,000 polling stations will be opened in the country.

Since the morning hours, tents and tables with campaign materials of various parties have been located in key places in the Turkish capital. Citizens are given brochures and small gifts, reports BTA.

Literally an hour before the end of the election campaign, a short rally was organized with the participation of the candidate for the mayor of the central Ankara municipality Çankaya from the main opposition People’s Republican Party (PRP) Hüseyin in the popular and beloved capital’s Kugulu Park, where a huge number of citizens gathered on a warm sunny day. In the central square of the capital Kizlay today there were also representatives of a number of parties who agitated the people. In Kuzlay, supporters of the NRP, the Party of Happiness, the Party of the Motherland, the Patriotic Party, and the Kurdish Islamist Khudapar campaigned.

There was heavy police security only around Khudapar party.

In the capital Ankara tomorrow, a contested race is expected between the current mayor Mansur Yavash of the NRP and the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Turgut Altnok.
