jpnn.com – JAKARTA – A total of 303 academics and civil society people have volunteered to become Amicus Curiae or Friends of the Court, for the panel of judges at the Constitutional Court or MK who are examining the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) case.

This Amicus Curiae was submitted to the Constitutional Court by representatives of the Alliance of Academics and Civil Society, namely socio-political observers from Jakarta State University Ubedilah Badrun and Sulistyowati Irianto on Thursday (28/3).

The Amicus Curiae drafting team consisted of Benediktus Hestu Cipto Handoyo (Faculty of Law, Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta), Dian Agung Wicaksono (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Gadjah Mada University), Marcus Priyo Gunarto (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law UGM), Rimawan Pradiptyo (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law UGM), Sulistyowati Irianto (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia).

Ubedillah said that in principle there were nine files for nine judges, but his party asked that they be given only to eight judges because one was not allowed to participate in adjudicating the PHPU case, namely Anwar Usman.

“This Amicus manuscript is an important part of public participation, from intellectuals, professors, academics, including civil society, numbering 303 people. “We had a very long discussion to provide considerations based on science,” he said.

He said that the Amicus Curiae submission was so that the PHPU Presidential Election case which is currently being tried could be decided fairly.
