“Lūši” beat RTU/”Robežsardzi” 3-1 (25:22, 25:20, 21:25, 25:16) and won the series 2-1.

Jānis Medenis scored 14 points for the home team, Eduards Stieľelis scored 12, and Zigurds Adamovičs and Marats Selivanovs scored ten points each.

In the Jūrmala team, Matīss Gabdulļins stood out with 22 scored points, while Jānis Teikmanis scored 11 points.

The Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF) reports that in the first set, a similar battle went on until 10:10, when the four-point breakthrough went to the “lynxes”. Jūrmalnieki soon retaliated, leveling the score (16:16) and even took the lead with 19:18. However, at the end of the set, the hosts played more effectively.

In the second set, the Jäkabpilians reached 5:3 and did not allow the guests to equalize the score again. The home team achieved the biggest advantage, reaching 23:16.

In the third set, after 7:7, the seafarers scored five points in a row and did not let their opponents get closer than a point gap (20:19).

On the other hand, the fourth set, after a four-point breakthrough and a 10-4 lead, went to the home team, as Aleksej Formanitsky scored the match point with a serve.

“Today we did quite well with flying serves, especially Selivanovs. The overall game was good, and we must praise the spectators, who were many and who pushed us forward,” says Jäkabpils coach Marcis Obrumans about the game.

The coach has reminded the players of his team that this is a “to be or not to be” game – the most important game of the season, and to get to the next important one, this one must be won.

He also mentioned that the victory was facilitated by the big advantage achieved at the beginning of the fourth set.

“It wasn’t easy to stop Gabdullinas in the opponent’s ranks. We tried both options, but we couldn’t really do it,” admits the coach from Jēkabpils.

“And when they managed to receive the serve well, their “first tempos” hit the first zone in two positions in the attack, scoring a lot of points,” Obruman praises the opponents.

In the final, the people of Jēkabpils will meet the team of “Ezerzeme” University” (“Ezerzeme”/DU), which defeated “Piejuura”/MSĂ with 2-0 in the semi-final series.

Last year, “Ezerzeme”/DU won the RTU/”Robežsardze” team 3-2 in the final series.
