Bulgaria’s admission to Schengen without land border checks will happen by the end of the year. This is what the resigned Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov told journalists. As of today, Bulgaria is in Schengen by air and water.
We have shown and continue to show illegal migrants that they should not go on the road to Europe through Bulgaria, as it will be difficult for them to cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border, said Stoyanov.
We should not forget the fact that, until a few months ago, Bulgaria was totally blocked from any negotiations for Schengen membership, said Stoyanov.
“I have not spoken with the future acting Prime Minister. I assume that this could possibly happen in the coming days”, commented Kalin Stoyanov.
I will hold talks with many people, answered yesterday the candidate for interim prime minister Dimitar Glavchev when asked if he would invite the resigned Minister of Internal Affairs Kalin Stoyanov to the office. Stoyanov explained to journalists that he would respond to an invitation for negotiations if he received one. If he decides, I am ready to stay in office, the resigned minister also said.

I have no political ties, I am equally distant from all political parties and especially from their leaders, added the minister.
