The former head of Yoozoo Games, Xu Yao, was sentenced to death on Friday for poisoning the company’s founder in 2020.

Deadline reports this.

The Chinese gaming company had a connection with the series “Game of Thrones” and the new Netflix project “The Three Body Problem”, which became a new hit. Xu Yao poisoned Lin Qi, the company’s founder, in December 2020 over a business dispute, the Shanghai First People’s Court said.

Lin Qi felt sick after drinking poisoned pu’er tea and died 10 days later. After the death of Lin Qi, the police arrested Xu Yao, who, according to the examination, used the poisons of puffer fish, mercury and at least three other substances.

Four more people became ill but did not die after Xu Yao poisoned drinks at the office from September to December 2020. According to the alleged version, he did this because of conflicts with two of them, the court said.

Chinese media reports that Yoozoo owns the film rights to the popular Chinese science fiction trilogy “The Three-Body Problem”, and Xu headed a subsidiary associated with this business.

In September 2020, the company granted Netflix the rights to film the trilogy. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are producers and Lin Qi is posthumously credited as executive producer of “3 Body Problem,” which debuted on March 21. Yoozoo, also known as Youzu Interactive, has developed a Game of Thrones game, Game of Thrones: Winter Is Coming.

“Cursor” also reported that the popular series “Black Mirror” will return to the screens.
