Delitraiteur supermarket in Differdange closed its doors on Wednesday, almost two years after opening. Employees at the Belgian company’s store only found out about the definitive closure on Monday night, according to the newspaper The essential.

One of the employees told the newspaper that there was a meeting with management on Monday and that the five employees were “shocked” by the announcement. They were told the store would close permanently at 7pm on Wednesday.

Contacto tried to obtain clarification from the company’s management, but they did not want to make a statement about the reasons for the closure.

Just last week, the store had published a video on social media with employees, with the description: “I work at Delitraiteur, obviously we follow the trend of the moment”.

Delitraiteur is a Belgian company that is part of the Louis Delhaize distribution group. It has 42 points of sale in Belgium and Luxembourg. The first, and now only, operating store in the Grand Duchy opened its doors in 2011, in Strassen.
