The Barcelona Court has agreed to provisionally release the former Barça player Dani Alves, on bail of one million euros, pending the final sentence that sentenced him to four and a half years in prison for raping a young woman in a nightclub.

In an order, which has the dissenting vote of a magistrate in favor of keeping the footballer in prison, the Barcelona Court allows Alves to leave jail if he pays bail, with the obligation to hand over his two passports – Spanish and Brazilian – , not leaving Spain and appearing weekly in court.

Although Dani Alves was already sentenced to prison after being found guilty of raping a young woman, his lawyers have filed appeals, and so has the accusing party (requesting more time in prison). While these are resolved, he has been granted provisional release.

The resolution also prohibits the footballer from approaching less than a thousand meters from the victim’s home, his place of work and any other place he may frequent, as well as communicating with her by any means.

After receiving the Court’s resolution, the Brazilian international’s defense is trying to raise the million euros that the court demands: he will not be able to leave prison until he deposits it in the court’s account and a new order is issued that agrees to his provisional release, but it emerged on social networks that he was not able to raise the amount today, something that would happen tomorrow, theoretically.
