BNP vice chairman and former minister Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad said, freedom war is the war of common people. Which was started by student-soldiers and youth groups. But today Awami League wants to take credit for everything. The youth of the country should come forward to realize the goals of the liberation war.

Reminiscing about the Liberation War, Major Hafiz said, I feel very pained when I hear about the distortion of the history of the Liberation War. Awami League did not want the independence of Bangladesh. They wanted the integrity of Pakistan. On the other hand, a soldier Major Ziaur Rahman stood for the oppressed people. He united everyone and declared the independence of Bangladesh and called for war.
He said that in the great liberation war of 1971, students, youth and old people of the remote areas of Bangladesh played a role. Many students sacrificed their lives fighting directly. Today there is no freedom of speech in the country. Life is not safe.
