In her TV shows, Andrea Kiewel always charms viewers with perfect styling. The presenter now presents herself completely naturally on Instagram.
Elaborately coiffed, staged with glamorous make-up, dressed in colorful outfits – that’s how most viewers know Andrea “Kiwi” Kiewel. In front of the camera, she not only impresses with her presentation, but also with her varied looks. In her private life, however, the 58-year-old prefers to go natural, as a current Instagram photo proves.
Andrea Kiewel greets her fans on the official social media channel of “ZDF- Fernsehengarten” on Monday, April 1st. In the photo, the TV star is without make-up and has her hair tied back from her face. A smile plays on Kiwi’s lips. The reason: a four-legged friend.
“Attention, attention! Not an April Fool’s joke. Kiwi and Carter wish you a great Monday off! Enjoy it and make the most of it,” reads the Instagram story. Andrea Kiewel poses in the photo with her dog, which she adopted from Spain in 2014.
In an interview with the non-profit organization adoptTIERE! The Berlin native explained a few years ago why the issue of animal protection is close to her heart. “When you take a dog from the animal shelter, you help two dogs. You give one a home and at the same time make room for the next dog in the animal shelter,” says Kiewel.
“So you could host a show someday”
It’s not the first time that Andrea Kiewel has appeared completely natural. In the last “ZDF TV Garden” season she was often seen without make-up on Instagram. In a video taken at a rehearsal in July 2023, she danced on stage without makeup and with a messy bun – and put everyone in a good mood behind the scenes.
There were numerous heart emojis under the social media post. The users also complimented the presenter: “I just find Andrea Kiewel so likeable,” “I’m really looking forward to the show,” and “You could moderate a show like that,” were just some of the comments.
Andrea Kiewel, however, holds back on private insights. She does not have her own social media channel. The former competitive swimmer has been leading through the “ZDF TV Garden” since 2000. Every Sunday she welcomes the crème de la crème of the German-speaking music scene at Mainz’s Lerchenberg. In addition, she focuses on topics such as cooking, DIY and health with various experts – thereby informing viewers about the latest trends. Kiwi will host the show again in 2024: It starts on May 5th at 12 p.m.
