Chinese President Xi Jinping and newly elected Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met today in Beijing.
“China values relations with Indonesia in a strategic and long-term perspective, and is willing to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and build a Sino-Indonesian community of shared destiny with regional and global influence. This will contribute to the well-being of the two peoples and to the peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world,” the Chinese leader said during the meeting.
The key to the great achievements of China-Indonesia relations lies in adhering to strategic independence, mutual trust and mutual assistance, supported by win-win cooperation, honesty and fairness. China and Indonesia are large developing economies and representatives of emerging markets. In the past, they have always supported each other in the struggle for national independence and state building, and in the future they should be examples of South-South cooperation, Xi Jinping emphasized.
Prabowo, in turn, said that China is a big country with global influence. “Indonesia’s new government is ready to work to integrate the development strategies of the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, poverty eradication and other areas. I highly appreciate China’s consistent pursuit of justice in international affairs, especially on the Palestinian issue,” the Indonesian president said.
