As part of the visit of the cultural and business mission of St. Petersburg to the capital of Azerbaijan, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan with a delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Health Committee Alexei Tereshin.
As the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday, having welcomed the guests, Health Minister Teymur Musayev noted the fruitful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia in the field of healthcare and medical science.
“Teymur Musayev recalled that in the summer of 2021, a meeting was held in Baku with the Russian delegation led by the Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko. During the meeting, the parties signed an updated agreement on cooperation between the countries in the field of healthcare and medical science.
Expressing gratitude to the Russian side for their support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the minister emphasized that the valuable recommendations of Russian specialists contributed to the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan.
In his speech, Teymur Musaev especially noted that medical universities in St. Petersburg are known for their rich research traditions, in which a whole galaxy of outstanding scientists worked over the years. It was emphasized that specialized types of medical care are provided in the Clinical Scientific and Practical Centers of St. Petersburg.
In conclusion, the Minister of Health of Azerbaijan expressed hope for further dynamic development of bilateral relations.
“There are all the necessary conditions for the exchange of modern methodological, scientific and practical information in the field of continuous professional training of medical specialists,” he said.
Thanking for the warm welcome and high hospitality, Alexey Tereshin emphasized that such meetings are very important from the point of view of sharing experience and knowledge. The head of the delegation also provided detailed information about the activities of medical centers and institutions in St. Petersburg.
Noting that serious achievements have been made in cardiac surgery, minimally invasive, thoracic surgery, oncology, urology and other areas of medicine, Alexey Tereshin expressed interest in raising cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, as well as with its subordinate research institutes and centers, to a higher level .
The head of the delegation also mentioned that as part of the visit, it is planned to visit the Azerbaijan Medical University (AMU) of the Ministry of Health and scientific clinics of the AMU, and sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Azerbaijan Medical University and St. Petersburg Pediatric University.
