Southern Luxembourg is under yellow alert between 2pm on Tuesday and midnight on Thursday due to the risk of flooding, MeteoLux announced in its usual bulletin.

The worsening of weather conditions follows the persistent rain of recent days, which is expected to raise the levels of the Moselle River throughout the day, according to the Water Management Administration (Water Management Administration).

This entity does not exclude the possibility of exceeding the reference height of 530cm on the Stadtbredimus meter (Remich: 452 cm) on Wednesday night. After that, the flow should decrease again.

Despite the yellow alert having been issued for the south, bad weather is expected to be felt throughout the national territory this Tuesday. MeteoLux predicts partly cloudy skies with the possibility of showers until the end of the afternoon.

Later during the night, the sky will become cloudy again, “announcing the arrival of the next storm”. Wind gusts of 60 to 65 km/h may occur.

On Wednesday, cloudy to slightly cloudy skies are expected in the first part of the day. Afterwards, the sky should be clear, “but there will still be a risk of showers”.

In the coming days, thermometers will remain at values similar to those of the last few days. Minimum temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees and maximum temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees are predicted.
