The opening ceremony of the Days of Belarusian Culture in Azerbaijan took place at the Heydar Aliyev Palace, Day.Az reports with reference to Trend.

Among the guests were government and public figures, representatives of culture and science, creative intelligentsia and youth, and diplomatic missions. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Belarus were played.

Speaking at the opening, Azerbaijani Minister of Culture Adil Karimli emphasized that this event is an excellent evidence of friendship and cultural exchange between the countries.

“The opening ceremony of the Days of Azerbaijan Culture at the Heydar Aliyev Palace is a significant event, a manifestation of deep respect for the memory of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, who played a key role in establishing relations between our countries, as a result of which strong traditional ties of cooperation and mutual support were formed. For the last time, significant decisions have been made to develop cultural ties between the two countries, which were facilitated by regular visits of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Belarus. Holding cultural days and implementing joint projects is of great importance, since they allow the two peoples to become more familiar with the cultural heritage of Belarus and Azerbaijan. We have a huge potential for further fruitful cultural cooperation,” noted Adil Karimli.

Minister of Culture of Belarus Anatoly Markevich emphasized that Belarusian-Azerbaijani cultural cooperation is based on deep traditions and history and is aimed far into the future.

“We highly appreciate the level achieved, but we understand perfectly well that there is still a very long way ahead, which will lead to the implementation of very important and large-scale joint cultural projects. It is very pleasant that the sphere of culture has the most serious impact on strengthening friendship between our peoples. One of the confirmations This was the appearance of the personal star of the famous Azerbaijani singer and composer Polad Bulbuloglu on the Alley of Stars of the Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk. In Belarus, we are always happy to see talented and bright Azerbaijani artists at all venues in the country,” noted Anatoly Markevich.

At this time, preparations for the gala concert were underway behind the scenes. The artists prepared with great spirit for their performances with a colorful program.

The concert program was attended by the State Academic Dance Ensemble of Belarus under the direction of People’s Artist Valentin Dudkevich, the Belarusian State Ensemble “Pesnyary”, Honored Artist of Belarus, TV presenter and singer Victoria Aleshko, opera soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus Daria Gorozhanko and Denis Yantsevich, dulcimer players and other masters of the arts , who presented folk songs and dances, classical works.

The performances were accompanied by applause and flowers. The evening also honored the memory of Azerbaijani heroes who took part in the liberation of Belarus from the fascist occupiers during the Great Patriotic War. Thousands of Azerbaijani soldiers fought in the liberation of Belarus, related to the Belarusian people through the blood shed in battle and the bitterness of losses. The activities of prominent cultural representatives of Azerbaijan and Belarus, who contribute to the rapprochement of peoples, were also noted.

Among the speakers were Azerbaijanis, citizens of Belarus – the winner of the first prize of the XXXII International Pop Song Performers Competition “Vitebsk” Samir Elchiev and the winner of the Francysk Skaryna Medal, the famous singer Gunesh Abasova, who had not been to her historical homeland for eight years and therefore presented the premiere of a touching composition in Azerbaijani language “Vətən” (Motherland). The performance of Shamil Ashrafov together with his fiancee Victoria Moroz presented the Azerbaijani folk dance “Naz eləmə” was also interesting.

And the evening ended with a stunning surprise when all the participants took the stage and the song “Azerbaijan” by the legendary Muslim Magomayev was performed in the Azerbaijani language by the group “Pesnyary”. The audience stood and greeted the artists, who presented a wonderful evening of peace, friendship and great celebration.
